TMF Catalyst Project Whitepaper
Service providers are starting to deliver a variety of converged communications services. While they continue accelerating this effort, they are also beginning to explore how to wrap the content domain into the mix. In most service providers today, the operations process and systems for managing the delivery of content (e.g. IPTV, web and premium mobile content such as on-demand videos, sports clips, wallpaper, ring-tones, games etc.) are often separate from the processes and systems for managing communications services (voice, broadband, alerts, etc.). Delivering a seamless customer experience will require collapsing these silos and adopting a unified set of processes and systems to define product bundles, take orders and activate services.
The NGN OSS Blueprint Catalyst showcases the use of SOA Framework and Governance, NGOSS Service Contracts, the TM Forum Shared Information / Data Model and TISPAN Subscription Management in a comprehensive B/OSS solution for delivery of converged communications and content services. The end-to-end standards-based solution developed by the project team provides a ‘blueprint’ for how operators can architect their B/OSS infrastructure to bridge the gap between service creation, product management, order capture and service fulfillment for services in both the communications and content domains.
This document summarizes the project scope, presents the overall OSS solution architecture, and describes in detail the service scenario demonstrated. It serves as a valuable reference for anyone who is involved in designing and developing an end-to-end OSS solution for managing the delivery of converged services. Moreover, it shows how operators can more rapidly monetize their next generation networks.
France Telecom, the main sponsor of this catalyst project, provided the use cases and the scenarios for converged services. |
